It is imperative that all children, especially those in urban and economically challenged environments have access to an equitable delivery of arts education that includes dance, media arts, music, theater, and visual arts that supports their educational, social, and emotional well-being in partnership with certified professional arts educators and with community arts providers.
Art helps with human development in terms of learning and understanding difficult concepts, as it accesses different parts of the human brain. It allows people to problem-solve as well as make more complex concepts easier to understand by providing a visual format instead of just words or numbers.
The arts also teach children that there a several paths to take when approaching problems and that all problems can have more than one solution. Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. Arts learning increases motivation, improves attitudes and attendance, and improves academic performance. youth can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork.
